Grandma's Favorite Hash Brown Casserole

1 2-pound package frozen hash browns
1 stick butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 pint sour cream
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups corn flakes, slightly crushed
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients except corn flakes and spoon into a buttered casserole. Top with corn flakes. Bake 1-1/2 hours.
