LaVonne DeBois' Tour

In Holmes County, our favorite tour — as much for the food as the information — begins with an enormous ham and eggs breakfast in an Amish farm kitchen, and ends, 12 hours later, with platters of fried chicken and four kinds of pies — served at another Amish housewife’s kitchen table, often with the whole family, from kids to granddads joining in for songs and conversation.
