My hometown is Miamisburg and that is where I grew up. My father and mother owned a gas station from 1963 until early 70's at the south end of Miamisburg on Main Street. It was a fabulous place to grow up. We lived just behind the station about 3 houses away and I spent most of my waking time at that station. Back when girls didn't pump gas, I was there pumping gas along with my mom and all my friends. I did my homework sitting there at the station and then we played games like "Pitch a Penny" and card games. The ballfield was right down the lane and I spent a lot of time there too. The Miamisburg Pool was the best thing. Every year I got my Pool Pass for I think $5 for the year and could go anytime we wanted. Those were the days. I now live in Largo, Florida and have been here 36 years but I never miss a year to go back to Miamisburg. Sometimes I am there a couple times a year. I graduated in 1970 from there, most all my family is buried there in Hillgrove Cemetary including my mom, dad, both sets of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and Great Aunts and Uncles and many of my friends familys too. I love being from Miamisburg and I will always say that Miamisburg is MY HOMETOWN!!! Great place to grow up.

I thought I always wanted to leave...then that time came and although just 50 miles away I missed my hometown and couldn't wait to return. There is something about the security of knowing your surroundings and knowing almost everyone you see at the neighborhood store. Just as the home you live in gives you comfort so does the city in which you live in...Miamisburg....well, it's just "home."
