Songs of My Father
Monica Mancini and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra celebrate the music of Cleveland native Henry Mancini.

The lonely night discloses
just a passing breeze
filled with memories
of the golden smile
that introduced me to
the days of wine and roses and you.
To Monica Mancini, these lyrics and the melody that accompanies them are among the most poignant ever written.
“It’s a song,” she says, “that rips your heart out.
“But,” Mancini adds with a smile, “I’m biased.”
She’s not alone in that sentiment. Her father, Henry Mancini, is one of the most revered composers, conductors and arrangers to earn a place in the American songbook.
February 11 through 13, Mancini and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra will showcase that talent in “A Hollywood Valentine,” a program of film and television scores, most of which were penned by her dad.
