I absolutely loved this piece in Ohio Mag. I worked at Woolworth's when I was 16, and visited the store many years before that.I loved re-living the sights and the sounds of that store. I can still taste the ham and cheese hoagie I used to order at the counter with my Grandma when we used to take the bus to downtown Toledo. I also loved the tropical fish dept, not to buy, but just to look! I don't believe my parents (with 7 kids) ever had to worry about us grabbing something off the shelf or constantly asking for something. We knew that bought us sitting in the car until they were done or leaving the store altogether. My favorite to this day from the candy counter Non- Parils (choco covered in little white dots) Thanks for the trip down memory lane! If you write other articles like this.I would love to read them. Thanks again Mary Lou
