Welcomed Winter Respite

Posted on: 2/25/2010 by Linda Feagler

Winter? Bah, humbug! I’ve always hated it. As a child, when the kids in my neighborhood congregated to make snowmen, I preferred to stay warm indoors and read Nancy Drew books. And memories of an auto accident on black ice 26 years ago still send me into a panic every time the first flakes of a new snowstorm start falling.

The Wyndham Cleveland at PlayhouseSquare, located in the heart of the city’s theater district, understands the anguish we snowphobes feel. So, they’ve come up with a weekend promotion called Snow News is Good News that’s a cinch to warm up to: Stay a Friday night through March for $109, and Saturday’s room rate will be as low as the temperature outside, determined by the noon thermometer reading at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. How low can you go? Find out while partaking of the fun waiting right across the street – no boots, no gloves, no scarf needed – at PlayhouseSquare, the largest performing-arts center in America, outside of New York City.

Plan your weekend around the stellar line-up of shows and artists taking center stage this month and next, including:

March 2–14: “Xanadu” takes you back to 1980s California and the world of disco.
March 6
: “Jesus Christ Superstar” comes to town with Ted Neeley reprising his legendary film role.
March 20
: “Golden Boys” Frankie Avalon, Fabian and Bobby Rydell perform their greatest hits from the ’50s and ’60s.
March 27
: Trans-Siberian Orchestra offers a spectacular audio/visual blend of progressive rock and orchestral arrangements.

After the show, unwind in the Wyndham’s sauna and partake of a repast of smoked mozzarella ravioli or sea bass in the dining room or your favorite libation at the Blue Bar.

Winter never felt so good.
