Chef José Salazar uses special touches in summertime drinks, like this limeade, to give them a festive feel. “Paying attention to the little things, like putting a little splash of soda in there, really gives it that little bit of effervescence,” says Salazar.
Ginger Limeade

INGREDIENTS
1.5 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice
.75 ounces citrus syrup
1.5 ounces standard simple syrup (recipe follows)
4 thin (1/16 to 1/8 inch) slices ginger
4 ounces ginger beer
DIRECTIONS
Muddle ginger in bottom of shaker. Fill shaker with ice, combine ingredients and shake. Strain into glass over ice, and top with ginger beer. Garnish with lime twist.
Standard Simple Syrup
INGREDIENTS
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
DIRECTIONS
Bring all ingredients to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Allow to cool.
