Cleveland Food Truck a Finalist at National Fried Chicken Festival

Grippy’s Sauce Co. was the only food truck from the Midwest to be a top finisher at the Louisiana event.

Midwest comfort food took a trip to Louisiana as the Cleveland-based Grippy’s Sauce Co. was a finalist in the ”Best Fried Chicken” category during the National Fried Chicken Festival in New Orleans.

The event is known for hosting some of the best fried chicken vendors in the country, including previous winners like Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles (California), Willie Mae’s Scotch House (Louisiana) and Prince’s Hot Chicken (Tennessee). Grippy’s Sauce Co. impressed the crowds during its first appearance at the festival with its Grippy’s Crispy Wings paired with hot, salty fries. Grippy’s Sauce Co. was the only contender from the Midwest at the festival, bringing the crowds a taste of Ohio-inspired fried chicken from this food truck that started in 2020

“This was a life changing experience, and we are so proud to have represented Cleveland and all of the Midwest in this competition,” Khalid Ali, Grippy’s Sauce Co. co-founder said in an Oct. 15 press release. “We knew we had a great product, and this confirmed that our fried chicken can compete with the best of them.”

More than 128,000 people attended the New Orleans festival on Oct. 5 and 6, and USA Today has named this fried chicken extravaganza one of the top 10 specialty food events in the nation.

Grippy’s Sauce Co.’s next food truck pop-up will be in Cleveland on Oct. 26 with more details to follow. (Follow Grippy’s at @grippyssauceco to keep track of where the truck will be next.
