Graeter’s Ice Cream Releases New Bourbon Ball Flavor

Try this flavor, created in collaboration with New Riff Distilling in Newport, Kentucky, at all Graeter's scoop shops starting April 14.

The sweet creaminess of ice cream meets the rich, smoky depth of bourbon in the newest creation from Cincinnati-based ice cream legend Graeter’s. The new Bourbon Ball flavor collaboration merges the iconic French Pot ice cream from Graeter’s with the award-winning bourbon from New Riff Distilling in Newport, Kentucky.

“Working with the team at New Riff to taste and select a special single barrel, our team has created the perfect fusion of our handcrafted process and New Riff’s exceptional distilling, delivering a unique experience that honors the rich flavors of Kentucky,”  Richard Graeter, CEO and fourth-generation president of Graeter’s, said in an April 10 press release.

And with less than a month to go until the Kentucky Derby (May 3 this year), what better time to combine the taste of the Bluegrass State with an Ohio classic? Bourbon-infused ice cream serves as the base of this sweet treat that also features dark chocolate chips and whiskey-glazed pecans throughout, making for an indulgent treat that is replacing Graeter’s former Brown Butter Bourbon Pecan flavor.

Visitors to New Riff Distilling’s gift shop can get a taste of the Bourbon Ball ice cream, and the flavor launched in all Graeter’s scoop shops April 14. Later this spring, it will begin appearing in other stores, including Jungle Jim’s International Market, Dorothy Lane Market and others. (You can also order online and have it shipped to your door from Graeter’s website.)

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with another local, family-owned business that shares out passion for craft and quality,” New Riff Distilling president Mollie Lewis said in the April 10 release. “[Bourbon Ball] is the perfect blend of two great traditions, and we can’t wait for everyone to get a taste.”
