Get ready to welcome fall in Summit County, where the changing leaves bring endless possibilities for fun! Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventures or exciting indoor activities, there's something for everyone. So gather your friends, pack your bags and come experience all that Greater Akron has to offer this season.
Start your journey with a visit to Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, the historic estate of Goodyear Tire & Rubber cofounder F.A. Seiberling. This stunning property includes a 65-room Tudor Revival Manor House, the beautifully restored Gate Lodge, and 70 acres of breathtaking formal gardens. It’s the perfect spot to soak in the fall colors.
Hiking the trails of the Summit Metro Parks or the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) is a great way to enjoy the beauty of the season. Take the family out for a hike or a bike ride. Summit Metro Parks consists of 16 parks, over 15,000 acres and more than 150 miles of trails. They are currently hosting their Fall Hiking Spree, lasting through November 30. Simply sign up, complete at least eight of the designated trails, then earn rewards! The CVNP was the twelfth-most visited national park in the U.S. in 2023 and boasts 33,000 acres of fantastic scenery. It’s also home to Brandywine Falls, one of Ohio’s largest waterfalls at over 60 feet!
For family-friendly fun, stop by the Akron Children’s Museum where kids can learn through play and exploration, from wind tunnels to ball mazes. Or visit the Akron Art Museum, featuring exhibits like “Where We Live: Photographs of Human Spaces” and “Zeerak Ahmed: Mother, I am Compelled to Leave” through December. Don’t miss “GLOW: Neon and Light,” a unique and vibrant exhibit. Save the date now for their special event on November 8, Circa: GLOW. This is an electric dance party with a DJ, photo booth and more — all to celebrate the exhibit! The museum also hosts monthly After School Open Studios and Mess Makers programs for kids.
Aviation enthusiasts will love MAPS Air Museum, which showcases Northeast Ohio’s rich aviation history. Explore interactive exhibits, including the Medal of Honor and Fallen Feathers Memorials. With year-round events like car shows, pancake breakfasts and craft beer festivals, it’s a must-visit.
Looking to unwind? Check out the Summit Brew Path! Grab a free passport, visit at least 13 of the 17 participating breweries, and earn your way to the Brew Path Bash.
