Deck the Hall at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens runs on select dates from Nov. 29 through Dec. 30. This beloved Akron tradition transforms the historic 65-room Manor House and its grounds into a winter wonderland. Stroll through the elegantly decorated rooms, marvel at the lighted gardens and enjoy 1.4 million holiday lights twinkling in sync with festive music. There will be classic holiday treats for sale, so you can get your fill of hot chocolate, gingerbread cookies and more. This immersive experience brings the spirit of the season to life for all ages.
For an exciting twist on holiday lights, don’t miss Wild Lights at the Akron Zoo! Taking place on select dates from Nov. 29 through Dec. 30, this dazzling event transforms the zoo into a winter wonderland, with over 1 million lights decorating the grounds. Wander through glowing tunnels, enjoy light shows set to holiday music and meet some of the zoo’s winter-loving animals. Kids can enjoy holiday crafts, take a ride on the carousel or warm up with a cup of hot cocoa as they explore the cheerful displays. You may even run into Santa Claus or the Grinch while you’re there! It’s a must-visit for those looking for something unique and memorable.
Step back in time with Holiday Lantern Tours at Hale Farm & Village. This unique experience takes you back in time as costumed guides lead your family through the 19th-century village, illuminated by the soft glow of lanterns. Explore how the holiday season and traditions were celebrated in the Western Reserve, complete with traditional carols, period crafts and treats. It’s an educational and fun experience that everyone will enjoy. Tours begin Dec. 5 and run throughout the month. Be sure to check online for exact dates and ticket sales.
From now through Dec. 21, take a magical ride aboard the North Pole Adventure on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. This themed train ride is a family favorite, taking passengers on a winter journey through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park to the “North Pole.” Along the way, meet Santa and his elves, enjoy holiday treats and listen to Christmas carols. When the train pulls into the North Pole, Santa boards to greet each child and deliver a special gift. The North Pole Adventure is a delightful way for families to experience the magic of the holiday season.
Lock 3 held its grand reopening celebration on Nov. 29. After nearly two years of construction, the park now includes shaded seating, landscaped gardens, two skating areas and the brand new Maynard Performance Pavilion. Lock 3 is back in action for the winter season and is ready to deliver plenty of festive fun. Visitors can go ice skating or rent ice bumper cars. Tickets are on sale now for Breakfast with Santa, which will be held on four different dates, starting Dec. 14. If you’re looking for an evening event, Dinner with the Grinch on Dec. 21 is for you!
