4 Ways to Enjoy Summer’s Dog Days with Your Pet

Make your pup your seasonal sidekick at one of these events across Ohio that allow four-legged friends to be part of the fun.

Doggie Days at Ye Olde Mill | July 18 & Aug. 15
Treat pup to an ice cream treat and some fun in the sun at Velvet Ice Cream’s Ye Olde Mill in Utica. Dogs can enjoy a scoop of canine-friendly vanilla ice cream topped with a tasty dog treat the third Thursday of the month when the ice cream shop is open. The purchase of a pup cup treat also includes a choice of dog toy to entertain your pooch.

Turf Dog Splash | Aug. 10-11
Help your pup make a splash this summer during the Turf Dog Splash at Sports Force Parks in Sandusky. The event features four categories in which dogs can show off their skills, including the Big Air long-jump competition tests and the Extreme Vertical high-jump contest. Or sign your pooch up for the Iron Dog competition, which combines a triad of skills. Prizes are awarded based on skill and ability.

Bark in the Park with the Cincinnati Reds | Aug. 12 & Sept. 18
You might hear some barking along with the cheering at Great American Ball Park Aug. 12 and Sept. 18 as well-behaved dogs and welcomed to watch the Cincinnati Reds. There is a designated section for pets and their owners to sit, and , before the game, attendees can meet dogs that are up for adoption. Pets must be vaccinated, on a leash and have a special dog ticket to enter the ballpark.

Puppy Palooza with the Columbus Clippers | Sept. 5
Home runs, hot dogs and hounds is the theme of the Columbus Clippers home game on Sept. 5. Bring your best friend to Huntington Park to cheer on our capital city’s Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. The event begins with a Puppy Parade, during which dogs can strut their stuff before the game starts. All four-legged friends in attendance must have a canine ticket to enter the ballpark and have their vaccinations up to date.
