Book a Stay at This Pretty in Pink House in Mount Vernon

The Little Pink Barn is a perfect getaway for a romantic couple’s weekend or a girls’ trip.

Even though Valentine’s Day only comes once a year, the season of love seems to last forever in Mount Vernon at the Little Pink Barn. Opened in 2020 by Ginny Roberts and her husband Chris, this two-bedroom, one bathroom house is a great spot for couples or a small group of girlfriends on a weekend getaway or bachelorette trip.

The house not only offers proximity to the shops and restaurants of downtown Mount Vernon, but also the community of Gambier, home to Kenyon College. Guests feel right at home thanks to the full slate of amenities and comfortable atmosphere which, of course, is infused with touches of pink throughout.

“If you have an Airbnb, it’s hard to distinguish yourself,” says Ginny Roberts. “... You have to set yourself apart so people feel like they’re really experiencing something different.”

So, the Little Park Barn’s hook became a farmhouse-style interior with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a total sleeping capacity of up to five as well as charming touches throughout, like a chandelier over the dining table and a bright blue retro fridge in the kitchen. As for bedrooms, one features a king bed, and the other a queen. No matter where you stay, you’re greeted by plush, neutral bedding with the same pops of soft pink found elsewhere in the home. The house also includes a full kitchen so you can stay in for a meal, a washer and dryer for guests making a longer stay and a backyard with patio and grill for the warmer months. Other comforts include shower soaps, linens, a coffeemaker and Wi-Fi.

“Pink can read really neutral if you’re not doing a bright pink,” Ginny Roberts says. “… Everybody was like ‘a pink house? That’s crazy,’ and I was like ‘no, I think that pink is so cute and it’s more neutral than you think it is.’”

Since pink is part of the home’s charm, it inherently calls to mind a theme of love, and couples were part of the reason the Roberts’ purchased the property. The Mount Vernon area has many wedding locations, but Ginny felt there were not enough places to stay. So, what better for a wedding night stay of place to get ready with the girls than a house with pops of pink everywhere you look.

“It’s just a cute little quaint place and we’ve been so excited about how many brides and grooms we’ve had there,” Ginny Roberts says. “[It’s] part of their story of their wedding day, so that really means a lot to us.”

The Little Pink Barn isn’t the Roberts’ only property. They also operate the Little Black Farmhouse, which is located on their 6-acre farm about 14 miles away from Mount Vernon in Centerburg. This studio apartment features three beds, a full kitchen and plenty of country-style comforts and, as the name suggests, a black decor palate.
