Boston Mills-Brandywine Ski Resort Fires Up Its Snow Machines

This northeast Ohio hotspot for skiing and tubing has kicked off its snowmaking operations for the season with an opening date soon to follow.

It’s a seasonal milestone, like the buzzards returning to Hinckley each March 15 and the thousands of warblers that descend upon Magee Marsh each May ... except this one has snow cannons.

On Dec. 1, Boston Mills-Brandywine, the ski resort that operates two separate locations in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, announced it had fired up its snow-making system for the season and noted that the announcement of an opening date was soon to follow. The same goes for Alpine Valley in Chesterland, which is also owned by Colorado-based Vail Resorts.

“Though we haven’t set an official opening day just yet, anticipation is building,” the press released noted. ”Our snowmaking team is geared up to produce snow at every opportunity, working tirelessly to lay down the foundation for this season’s opening terrain package.”

Although sales of season passes ended Dec. 2, you can purchase lift tickets for this season by visiting of the website of the resort you want to visit. If you want to keep track of the snow-making progress at Boston Mills, you can always check in via its live cam.
