Main Street Shopping: Perrysburg

Find flowers and gifts at Angel 101, buy beautiful serving pieces at Packer Creek Pottery and make custom scents at Riverfront Candle Co.

Located on the banks of the Maumee River and the site of a War of 1812 fort, Perrysburg has no shortage of history. The town, about a 20-minute drive south from Toledo, was founded a few years after general and future president William Henry Harrison and his troops defeated British soldiers at Fort Meigs. (Perrysburg was named for Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, another War of 1812 hero.) Today, Fort Meigs and Perrysburg’s downtown, which is full of eclectic shops and eateries and borders a marina and park along the river, attract travelers. “Our downtown is adorable,” says Sandy Latchem, executive director of the Perrysburg Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We have really imaginative entrepreneurs who want to have their shop down there.”
