The Miller Ferries Begin Service to Ohio’s Islands for 2025 Season

Climb aboard this fleet of ferries starting as early as March 21 for service to Put-in-Bay and Middle Bass Island.

Summer in Ohio can mean something different to everyone. Maybe it’s trips to Cedar Point and Kings Island or playing in the sand on a Lake Erie or inland lake beach. Perhaps it’s an outdoor concert, annual festival or sitting on the patio of your favorite restaurant.

No matter how you spend the sunny season, you can’t dispute that a trip to Put-in-Bay, along with Lake Erie’s other islands, is a quintessential summertime experience in Ohio.

No boat? No problem. Passengers seeking a slice of island time can get that as soon as March 21, thanks to the Miller Boat Line’s Miller Ferries.

Taking a ride on the Miller Ferries is not just a means of travel, it’s a way to experience history. The Miller Boat Line got its start in 1905 and is celebrating 120 years in 2025. The company owns five vessels that can transport both passengers on foot and in their vehicles to two Lake Erie islands, Put-In-Bay and Middle Bass Island, from the mainland at Catawba Island.

“This winter was an islander’s dream come true with several weeks of ice fishing and ample time to stock walleye in the freezer,” Julene Market, an owner with the ferry company said in a March 19 release. “In 2025, Miller Boat Line marks 120 years of service in the Lake Erie Islands area. We’re excited to get this season underway and welcome visitors back to Put-in-Bay and Middle Bass.”

Trips to Put-In-Bay starting March 21 and travel to Middle Bass Island begins March 27.
